Lunch & Learn

Peace of Mind

Events give seniors a relaxed way to hear useful information while enjoying a light meal. Each session focuses on one topic that can make everyday life easier, safer, or less confusing.

The Child Development Program in Kenya is a holistic initiative aimed at improving the well-being, growth, and potential of children in both urban and rural

Simple Topics

Topics may include technology, food, safety, caregiving, housing, health choices, money concerns, and quality of life. The event listing will explain the subject, speaker, and main points covered so seniors can decide whether the session
fits their needs.

Lunch Details

In-person events may include sandwiches, chips, cookies, and drinks. The registration page will state whether food comes with the event, what will be served, and whether dietary requests can be accepted. Online attendees
can join from home without purchasing a meal.

How to Attend

In-person guests should arrive early enough to check in and find a seat.
Online guests will receive a meeting link and simple joining instructions by email. The listing will also explain whether a phone, tablet, or computer will work.

Early Childhood Development (ECD)

At the heart of the program is Early Childhood Development, targeting children between the ages of 0 to 5 years. It focuses on foundational brain development, emotional nurturing, and early learning.

Through community-based ECD centers, children receive age-appropriate stimulation, structured play, balanced meals, and regular health checks. Parents are also trained in responsive caregiving and positive parenting practices.

Education Access

The program ensures that school-age children have access to quality education by providing school fees subsidies, uniforms, learning materials, and mentorship. Special emphasis is placed on girl-child education and children with disabilities. School retention campaigns and after-school tutoring help improve literacy and numeracy, while partnerships with local schools enhance teaching quality and infrastructure.

Nutrition & Health

Nutrition is a cornerstone of the program, with consistent feeding schemes established in ECD centers and primary schools. Malnutrition screenings are conducted regularly, followed by treatment and dietary supplementation where necessary. Health outreach efforts include immunizations, deworming, vitamin A distribution, and access to clean water and sanitation facilities.

What to Expect

Sessions include a short presentation followed by time for conversation.
Seniors may ask questions, take notes, or simply listen. Handouts or helpful
links may be provided after the event.
